Emma Smith

Emma is the owner of BirthFamilySLO, offering comprehensive prenatal, birth, and postpartum wellness for the entire family. She is a certified Postpartum Doula and Birth Doula, a certified Reiki Energy Practitioner, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with an emphasis on early childhood development and the parent–child relationship.

With over twenty years of experience supporting families with young children, Emma brings a calm, non-judgmental, and holistic philosophy to her work. Her background as a methodical educationalist allows her to provide meaningful guidance through postpartum planning, newborn care education, breastfeeding support, and babywearing instruction, while honoring each family’s unique values and goals.

Born in Japan and spending summers immersed in Japanese culture, Emma incorporates this multicultural perspective into her practice. She offers Reiki Wellness sessions for the whole family and a Mother Hara Blessing Ceremony, celebrating the transition to parenthood and supporting emotional and physical well-being.

As both a birth and postpartum doula, Emma supports families across the full continuum of care—from pregnancy and labor through the postpartum period—ensuring parents feel empowered, informed, and nurtured. Each family’s unique needs are the center of her care, and she is honored to support families no matter how their family picture is painted.
